Buckeye Lake Memorial Day parade set for Saturday, May 23

BUCKEYE LAKE – The 4th Annual Memorial Day Parade is set for Saturday May 23. It starts at 11 a.m. at the First Community Church proceeding up Ohio 79 to the Buckeye Lake State Park., North Shore Boat Ramp.

More than 30 units are preregistered for this year’s event. Leading the parade will be VFW Post #1388 Color Guard under the guidance of Buckeye Lake resident Ray Harris.

Participants are still welcome to enter the parade. Deadline for entry is Saturday, May 16.. The entry fee is $10 for non-profits and $15 for all others. There will be awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place with five categories of judging.

New this year will be the Little Miss Buckeye Lake contest. Girls, ages 5 to 8 in Licking, Perry and Fairfield counties are welcome to register. For registration, call the Buckeye Lake Museum at 929-1998 or stop by and pick up a form. Registration is $10.

All spectators are welcome to join the parade entries at the North Shore Boat Ramp for free refreshments after the parade. The awards will be given out to the winning entries at that time along with judging of the Little Miss Buckeye Lake.

All proceeds from the parade go toward the Buckeye Lake Community Christmas Celebration Committee for the Christmas Celebration that takes place the second Saturday in December.
