A funeral service for Bradley Allen Phillips, age 60, of Thornville, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 25, 2009, at the Heath Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service with Rev. Robert Beyer, Rev. Carol Kirk and John Norris officiating.
Mr. Phillips passed away Monday, September 21, 2009, at his home. He was born October 15, 1948, in Newark, to the late Richard Eugene and Emily Charlene (Bagent) Phillips.
Mr. Phillips was a 1967 graduate of Newark High School. He retired from Brinks, Inc. after 33 years of service where he had been branch manager and an armored car messenger. He was also retired from Walker Manufacturing where he had been employed for 21 years. He was formerly employed at Western Electric and Main Hardware.
Mr. Phillips was an Eagle Scout and was a blood donor for the American Red Cross. He was an OSU fan and an avid motorcycle rider.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Donna E. (Bailey) Phillips, whom he married July 10, 1971; son, Andrew S. Phillips of Heath and his friend Marcie Butts and her daughter, Aaralynn; daughter, Vicki L. Phillips of Westerville; brothers, Doug Phillips of Alexandria, Jeff (Lorie) Phillips of Saint Louisville and Craig Phillips of Newark; nieces and nephews; mother-inlaw, Ruth (Richard) Lieber of Johnstown, step-mother-in-law, Shirley Bailey of Pataskala; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Lee and Cathy Bailey of Utica.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Marie and Curly Andrews and Harry and Edna Phillips; father-in-law, Roy Bailey; and his best friend, his dog, Champie.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, September 24, at the funeral home, 1249 Hebron Road, Heath, and also from 10- 11 a.m. prior to the service on Friday.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Ohio, the Licking County Chapter of the American Red Cross or the Zangmeister Center. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
