Bob L. Esque




Bob L. Esque, age 81, of Baltimore, passed away October, 10, 2016, at home, surrounded by family after a long and valiant struggle with pulmonary fibrosis. He was born on December 24, 1934, in Man, West Virginia, the son of Earl Esque and Ruth (Gunnoe) Esque Wetzel.

He graduated from Logan High School, Logan, West Virginia, in 1953. He retired from Columbus Coated Fabrics. After retiring, he worked as a part-time school bus driver for Liberty Union and Reynoldsburg schools. He was a 45 year member of Baltimore Masonic Lodge #475, serving as Worshipful Master in 1989 and 2005. He was also a member of the York Rite, Shriners, Knight’s Templar, and Kentucky Colonels. He served as a volunteer firefighter and Little League baseball coach for 20 years.

Those left to cherish his wonderful memory include his wife of 51 years, Louise; his four children, Lynne Conroy (Patrick) Ethier, Janet (Warren) Smith, Robert (Jennifer) Esque, and Rochelle Esque; brother, William Esque; uncle, Charles (Marcia) Gunnoe; two step grandchildren, Nicholas (Elizabeth) Ethier, and Alexander Ethier; many nieces and nephews; and friends he considered to be family. He was blessed with six surviving grandchildren, Brett (Chelsey) Conroy, Normajean Elizabeth (Andrew) Stone, Alexandria Smith, Braxton Smith, Molly Esque, and Maxwell Esque. He will also be greatly missed by a daughter of his heart, Christy (Steve) Ford and family. Preceding him in death were his parents; granddaughter, Melinda Dawn “Mindy” Conroy; stepfather, Max Wetzel; and son-in-law, Roger Conroy. He never met a stranger.

Visitation will be at Johnson- Smith Funeral Home, Baltimore, on Thursday, October 13 from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. Masonic services will be conducted at 7:30 P.M. Thursday. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 14, 2016, at the funeral home. Donations may be made in memory of Bob to the Baltimore Masonic Lodge.
