Boat parade set for July 4

MILLERSPORT – The annual 4th of July boat parade is set to sail off at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 4, from off the Lieb’s Island boat ramps.

Howard Everett returns to play the National Anthem while Buckeye Lake VFW Post 1388’s Honor Guard will raise the flag and conduct a 21-gun salute.

Merv Bartholow is this year’s Grand Marshall. The Harbor Hills resident is a tireless volunteer who served two years as vice president and then eight years as president of the Buckeye Lake Area Civic Association. During his tenure as president , he became a founding director of Buckeye Lake for Tomorrow. BLT is focused on improving the water quality in Buckeye Lake. He now serves as president of BLT.

This year’s parade theme is keeping our beautiful lake clean and healthy. Formal registration for the parade is not required. Please call chair Don Carley at 740-467-7018 or 614-746-1940 if you plan to participate so he knows how many boats to expect. The parade will follow the shoreline from Liebs Island to Capt. Woody’s.
