Boat parade set for July 4

BUCKEYE LAKE – The Buckeye Lake Area Civic Association’s annual boat parade will form off Lieb’s Island at noon on Saturday, July 4.

The traditional boat parade will follow the North Bank then past Harbor Hills. The parade will break up off Captain Woody’s.

Jack Gorham will be Grand Marshall – an appropriate choice given this year’s Big Band Boom and All That Jazz theme. Gorham is a jazz drummer who played with the Ted Williams Big Band and many smaller groups. He is a member of the Jazz Hall of Fame.

His restaurant career began in 1972 when he opened the Pizza Cottage in Carroll. It came to Buckeye Lake 9 years later.

VFW Post 1388 Color Guard will raise the flag at noon as Howard Everitt plays the National Anthem. The Millersport Fire Department will lead the parade. Call 467-7018 to register.
