Serving all the communities of the Buckeye Lake Region

Boat parade participants thanked

Nearly two dozen participants proved that we would not let it rain on our Boat Parade on the gloomy morning of the 4th of July.

The Buckeye Lake Area Civic Association greatly appreciates the support of the entire community, for without which, this event would not exist. Special thanks goes out to Howard Everitt for his wonderful rendition of our National Anthem, VFW Post 1388’s Honor Guard, the Millersport Fire Department and their members for leading our procession down the lake, and J-Me Braig & the Greater Buckeye Lake Historical Society for donating the use of the Queen of the Lake II.

The Queen provided the wonderful floating stage that allowed for everyone to enjoy the talents of our Grand Marshal Paul Clark and his band mate, Randy “DooRag” Cobun. Thanks for the special show guys! We also thank all the boaters who dedicated their time and efforts to decorate and travel down the seawall with us. This takes a lot of effort, but you could see that people appreciate your labor. Also, thanks to Charlie and The Beacon for helping us get the word out, as usual.

Paul Clark and his band have created many lasting memories around the lake and this parade was no exception. Seeing the spectators lined up along the lake, many with flags in hand, dancing and waving was a real sight to see. If for no other reason, this parade was a hit because of the pure joy you could see in the children laughing and grooving to the music.

Everything that BLACA does, we do as a team, and this parade was no exception. We welcome you to join us as we work together to promote and better the lake and surrounding communities. Check out our website at

We are gathering video or photos of the parade or your team getting your boat ready, for use on our website. You can find my contact info there and please email me any items you may have. Also, please let me know if you have any ideas for future boat parades. Thanks to all for another great 4th of July on the lake. God Bless!
