MILLERSPORT, THORNVILLE – Zane Maughmer couldn’t ask for a better summer job. “You get a nice tan. You get to see a lot of chicks; it’s cool,” said the Millersport Pool lifeguard. He looks forward to becoming a high school senior next year, but for now he’s in no hurry for summer to end. Buckeye Lake Area public pools are packed as early summer temperatures have already soared into the 90s.
Thornville Mayor Beth Patrick said her community wouldn’t be enjoying the Thornville pool if it weren’t for a generous $15,000 gift from the Thornville Moose Lodge. “What a wonderful thing to do for the community,” she said. “We wouldn’t have opened (the pool) without their help.” The Moose lodge will continue to donate money to the village on a monthly basis through October. “This is a tremendous help for us,” said Patrick. The Thornville pool is available for rental parties up to 200 people.
