OK, it was a struggle with a few battles, but there will be a mini BLASST at 10 p.m. on Friday, July 3. The fireworks will be launched from Fairfield Beach, just to the east of our site in recent years. For those of you who have always watched from Fairfield Beach, the safety zone for the new launch site will reduce the viewing area there. I want to remind you (not that I agree) that golf carts can’t be operated within sight of an officer. You will get ticketed.
Also there will no food or trinkets sold in any parks this year. If you buy from someone with the exception of the existing restaurants off grounds, you are hurting BLASST and our community. So if you are coming early, please pack a picnic or support our local businesses. We prefer you do the latter.
As always if you get drunk and disorderly, you are asking to be taken to jail. There are no exceptions to that rule either. Please be very careful if you have purchased any fireworks to use at your home. All the lake area fire departments will be extremely busy the night of the 3rd and you should have sent that money to the community fund anyway.
This is a MINI BLASST because right now we are out of money for next year. We made the decision not to ask businesses for donations this year; many are struggling to cope with the low lake level. Our loyal individual donors should receive our annual donation letter this week.
Please consider sending a CHECK to BLASST, P O Box 475, Millersport, OH 43046, so maybe we can have one next year. Our BLASST t-shirt will be late getting out, but I am pretty sure you will want one of these collector shirts. They are designed for Buckeye Lake residents and can be worn year around.
Fireworks over Buckeye Lake has been a Wolfe family tradition for as long as I can remember, but it has grown into a community effort. It is a very difficult time for residents, businesses and visitors. But we are determined to keep our fireworks tradition alive. Hang in there and keep a positive spirit. Have hope that this too shall pass without destroying this beautiful lake and our livelihoods. Let your stress go for one night and enjoy what we have in store for you.
May God bless all of you!
