Serving all the communities of the Buckeye Lake Region

BLASST donations running behind

Editor:

This is my last BLASST Letter to the Editor which some of you won’t even get until after the holiday. I hope to thank all our donors in next week’s Beacon if Charlie has the space. We still haven’t heard from many past donors and there have been very few new donors this year. There is still time to help support this unique community tradition. Please send a donation to BLASST 13284 West Bank Dr. Millersport Ohio 43046

Last weekend, the Redneck women were out for two days collecting money for BLASST. On Saturday, Michelle, Jan, and Sonya were at T.C. Market. They collected $533 plus a can full of coins which I haven’t counted yet. You go girls! Then on Sunday, Terry Dupler was selling t-shirts at Watson’s Valero station in Millersport while Michelle, Jan, Liz and Marty were collecting money at the Millersport intersection. Thank you girls, one and all.

Did I mention The Rednecks are putting together another cookbook as well? Yep, and those books will be (as always) a collector’s item, as a very special piece of Buckeye Lake history. I will let you know when and where they will be available.

We will moving our remaining t-shirts to just three locations starting July 3. They will be available at Buckeye Lake Marina, Pizza Cottage and Buckeye Lake Place which is located directly across from the Pizza Cottage on Ohio 79. Most sizes will be available at Buckeye Lake Place including men’s tanks XL and 2-XL. Marnita did an outstanding job on the design and I have heard many compliments. She also compiled our BLASST donor mailing list on a new program, printed 500 copies of this year’s donation letter, stuffed the envelopes and mailed them. I can’t begin to tell you how much help she has been to me this year. As I said before, Marnita is like a hummingbird next to most of us. Thank you Marnita, from the very center of my heart.

By the way, I’ve lost my sense of humor. If anyone finds it, please return it to me as soon as possible because I need it very badly. OK, here’s the rules of the game…please don’t get drunk and disorderly. Please don’t litter. Please don’t park your golf cart on state property. Have a happy and safe 4th. God bless our Veterans and service people and thank you all for fighting for our freedom.
