Black introduces himself

Editor:

I’m Rick Black, candidate for the Republican nomination for Licking County Commissioner. I’m asking for your vote in the May 6 primary election.

I first campaigned for Commissioner in 2008 and came in third in a five-way primary race. I wasn’t discouraged. Taking the lessons I learned and putting them to good use, I won a seat for Union Township Trustee in 2009 as the top vote-getter in a five-way race. I won re-election last year, again earning the most votes in a four-way race.

I’ve been preparing myself for the opportunity to pursue the office of Licking County Commissioner since 2005. I’ve been connecting with business and community leaders and local government officials to keep pace with the growth and changes in our communities, and to learn where improvements are possible.

I bring some unique talents and qualifications to the Commissioners office:

* Agriculture is a major industry in Licking County, and my primary occupation for 40 years has been owner/operator of a family farm in Union Township. My experience will be a benefit when dealing with numerous Agricultural issues affecting our county.

* My experience as Trustee in a very diverse township will be a positive influence when dealing with many county government issues.

* I’m a member and leader of numerous community organizations.

I ask for your support and vote on May 6.

Rick Black
County Commissioner candidate
