Serving all the communities of the Buckeye Lake Region

Black asks voters to support him for county commissioner

I am Rick Black, a lifelong resident of Union Township, and candidate for the Republican nomination for Licking County Commissioner.

I grew up on a family farm north of Hebron, graduated from Lakewood High School and The Ohio State University College of Agriculture and returned to the family business and now am the fifth generation to own and operate that farm. I am also employed as organist and music director at Second Presbyterian Church in Newark, where I have served for over 30 years.

Beth, and I have been married for 27 years, and we have 3 sons in college.

I served on the Lakewood School Board of Education (1999-2005) and decided to pursue election to the commissioner’s officeduring my last year on the school board. I announced my candidacy July 2007.

Licking County needs leadership who wants to work with the various communities and entities in the county. To date I have visited with township trustees from 23 of Licking County’s 25 townships and several municipal councils to learn about their concerns and relationships with county government.

The officeof County Commissioner is not a 9-5 job, but often a 24/7 job. You have to be available when the people need you and be willing to listen to them. I am ready to do that.

I hope to earn your trust and your vote in this primary election.
