Billy Ray Sims, 80, went to be with the Lord on October 2, 2014, at his home following a brief illness. He was born on July 29, 1934, in Big Bend, West Virginia, son of the late Walker P. and Zona (Richards) Sims.
He worked at Roper Corporation for 23 years and Premier Glass. He attended Thornville United Methodist Church. Billy was a hard worker who loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed Southern Gospel music, wood working, and gardening – especially flowers.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, OnaBelle, whom he married on September 24, 1959; seven children, Annabelle Currence (Paul), Rebecca Cavinee (Chuck), Dennis (Edna) Sims, Kenneth (Jill) Sims, Patrick (Trish) Sims, Michael (Staci) Sims and Kevin (Trish) Sims; 15 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; one great-greatgrandchild; sister, Bonnie Buck; brothers, Jim, Rick, and Fred; and many other family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his brothers, Denver, Eugene, Walker Jr., and Harold Sims; and his grandson, Allen Sims.
A funeral service celebrating Billy’s life was held October 7, 2014, in the chapel of Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, WV. He was laid to rest in Maze Family Cemetery.
