Betty Jean (Keller) Lebold




A Funeral Mass for Betty Jean (Keller) Lebold, 84, of Newark, was held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church on April 16, 2014, with Rev. JCP Sullivan, Parish Priest, as celebrant. Interment followed in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Betty Jean died peacefully at her residence at Primrose in Lancaster, on April 14, 2014, surrounded by her loving children. She was born in Columbus, on October 11, 1929, to the late Clark Nelson and Mary Eva (Billow) Keller.

Betty graduated from Kirkersville High School and went to work for The Farm Bureau Insurance Company of Columbus. She met and later married the love of her life, Alvin Dewey Lebold of Hanover, on August 6, 1949, at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church in Granville, Ohio. She and Alvin began raising their sizable family in April of 1953. Betty was a devoted wife and loving, caring, stay at home Mom. Once Betty and Alvin’s children were well along their way in school, Betty went to work for Maybold Shoes in Newark, with Joan and the late Floyd Mckenna. She later joined the staff of Newark Family Physicians, working for Marie and the late Charles Sinsabaugh, Dr. G. Frank Gabe and Dr. Craig Cairns. She retired after 22 years of dedicated service.

Betty and Alvin were avid golfers and members of the Harbor Hills Country Club for years. Betty enjoyed vacationing and above all, her ever growing family. Betty was baptized at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Buckeye Lake. She and Alvin later became charter members of St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir. After moving to Newark, she became a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church and remained a member for the rest of her days.

She is survived by her five children and their spouses, Victoria S. (Bill) Groves of Sugar Grove, Joseph A. Lebold of Newark, Kimberly A. (Joseph) Wirthman of Canal Winchester, Kelina A. (Donald) Rings of Pickerington, and Patrick M. (Lois) Lebold of Newark; her sisters, Susan Bauman of Heath, and Patricia Stricker of Cincinnati; her sisterin law, Grace Ann Lebold of Vandalia, Illinois; 14 grandchildren, Brandy, Katrina, Amy, Travis, Marissa, Shawn, Delilah, Alisha, Justin, Robert Alvin, Brittany, Deena, Mitchell Alvin, and Matthew; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Betty will be sadly missed and will remain a cherished memory for all.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin D. Lebold; her son, Patrick Alvin Lebold; her granddaughter, Melissa E. Lebold; her brother and sister-in-law, Robert C. (Maureen) Keller; and her brothers-in-law, Mike Bauman, Vince Stricker, and William E. Lebold.
