Bennett Ora Lees




Bennett Ora Lees, age 87 of Hebron, passed into eternity January 17,

2017. He was born January 28, 1929, to the late Denzill Oren and Blanche Claggett Lees of Hebron. On July 2, 1950, he married Ethel Ruth Warner of Homer, OH. At the time of his passing, Ben and Ruth were married 66 years. To their union was born six children: Ken (Diane); the late Joe (Lori); Charles (Millie); the late Ben Dean; Linda (Mark) Billenstein; and Ray (Matt). He had 20 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and two sons, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Ruth Hayden, Esther Baker and Mary Brown; and three brothers: Willis Lees, Don Lees and Denzill Lees, Jr. Ben was a 1946 graduate of Union Rural School. He also received a two-year short-course agricultural degree from Michigan State University in 1950. He was an active member of the Heath Church of Christ, where he was a member of the church’s missionary committee. He served honorably as an elder and Sunday School teacher for 25 years. Together, Ben and Ruth stayed on their Hebron farmland until they sold the BenRuth Holstein Farm in November 1984. Ben would then retire after 12 years working as a courier for Park National Bank in 2002.

Funeral service was January 21, 2017, at the Rutherford-Corbin Funeral Home, Worthington with Ray Linn and David Mason, ministers, officiating. Burial was in Wilson Cemetery, Newark.
