Baltimore mayor supports Liberty Union bond levy

Editor:

Liberty Union Thurston School District voters are being asked to pass a nominal bond issue on March 4. Issue 7, a 2.8 mill bond levy, will provide the following to our district: a new middle school, a secure bus area, a renovated 1936 auditorium, a district officeand improved energy efficiency in every building.

The State of Ohio has placed Liberty Union Thurston on the fast track for building improvements. Voter approval of the bond issue will allow the district to start the building process. Also in 2009, 1.59 mills will come off property tax bills since the high school bond issue will now be paid off. That means only 1.21 mills will be added to property tax bills. Senior citizens will pay even less since they will be exempt from the first $25,000 of valuation beginning this year. This issue is an opportunity for members of both parties to support positive change before the presidential race this fall.

As a property owner, I evaluate each issue on its own merits. Superintendent Paul Mathews and the entire Liberty Union Thurston Board of Education have explained the need for this bond issue from the very beginning.

Join me on March 4 by supporting Issue 7 and creating a brighter educational future for our children.
