Aubrey Gayle Bishop




A funeral service, celebrating the life of Aubrey Gayle Bishop, 74, of Millersport, was held August 10, 2015, in the chapel of the Thornville home of Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service. Burial followed in the Millersport Cemetery.

Gayle died early Tuesday morning, August 4, 2015, in Lancaster. He was born August 23, 1940, in Sharon, West Virginia, the son of the late Carl and Ethel (Caudell) Bishop. He was a graduate of Eastbank High School and had worked for many years as a steam pipe fitter and was president of his union local.

He belonged to the VFW #1388 at Buckeye Lake and was a former member of the Millersport Lions Club, and worked for many years at the Millersport Sweet Corn Festival.

He is survived by his family: son, Rodney (Barbara) Bishop of Pleasantville; daughter, Sherry Fannin of Newark; grandchildren, Amanda Fannin of Powell, Duston Bishop of Millersport and Cassandra (Brad) Bay of Utica; great-granddaughter, Adria Fannin of Powell; sisters, Sue (Al) Bergeron, Patty Cantley and Alice (Danny) May; brother, Junior (Edna) Bishop; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alice on July 21, 2009; and brothers, Charles and Hugh Thomas Bishop.
