Assistant fire chief found ‘not guilty’ on misdemeanor charge

By Charles Prince

MILLERSPORT – Fire Chief Bob Price told The Beacon September 12, that Assistant Chief Robert C. Robertson Jr. was found not guilty of a first degree misdemeanor assault following a short trial in Fairfield County Municipal Court on September 11.

The misdemeanor charge arose from a November 17, 2017, EMS run to the R.E.M. Ohio group home on Bickel Church Road. Robertson, a paramedic, was accused of slapping a 56-year-old man in the face after the man spit at him. According to a Lancaster Eagle-Gazette report last December, Robertson said he put his hand over the man’s mouth to keep him from spitting again. The man was struggling as paramedics tried to put him on a cot.
