Arthur L. Ours




A funeral service, celebrating the life of Arthur L. Ours, 86, of Hebron, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2015, in the chapel of The Kirkersville home of Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service, with his pastor Chris Whitehead as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Kirkersville Cemetery.

Art died early Tuesday morning, September 8, 2015, at his home in Hebron, with his loving wife at his side. He was born in Akron, the 13th of May, 1929, the son of the late Everett Eli and Zella Kathryn (Gainer) Ours. He was a graduate of Hebron High School, Class of 1948. An expert finish carpenter and master craftsman, Art worked with his brother, Jesse in the Ours Construction Company for many years.

An active member of the Hebron community, Art was a lifelong member of Hebron Christian Church, 61-year member and past president of Hebron Lions Club, Hebron Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and Aladdin Temple Shrine.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant brother, Robert Elmer Ours; his first wife, Lillian Rebecca Ours in 1993; his brother-in-law, Sherman Clay; and his brother, William Guy “Bill” Ours.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia; children, Arthur Steven Ours and his wife Deborah Dean, Theresa Kay Ours and Rex Allen Ours and his wife Lisa; stepchildren, Paula Ann Greene, Lisa Jo Shelly and her partner Debbie Carr and Carla Sue Pennington and her husband, Eric; siblings, Everett Jesse Ours and his wife Pauline, Evelyn Clay, Paul Ours and his wife Faye and Elizabeth Morgan and her husband Jerry; sister-in-law, Diana Ours, Judy Dupler and her husband Ronald, Dale Ours and his wife Patty; grandchildren, Angela Baldwin and her husband Clarence, Steven Troy Ours and his wife Erica, Nicholas Steven Ours and Zachary and Ian Pennington; 9 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Friday, September 11, 2015, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, 285 East Main Street in Kirkersville. Hebron Masonic Lodge will conduct Masonic Funeral Services at 7:45 p.m.
