Area college students honored

BUCKEYE LAKE – Lake area college students are honored:

Ashland University: Patricia Alley of Millersport is now a member of the American Medical Student Association. She is majoring in biochemistry is a 2017 graduate of Fairfield Christian Academy.

Bob Jones University: Chandler Scalf, a Junior Nursing major from Baltimore, was named to the Dean’s List for high academic achievement during the Fall 2018 semester. To qualify for the Dean’s List, students must earn a 3.0-3.74 grade point average.

Heidelberg Univesity: Jason Trapp, a freshman History major from Baltimore, was named to the fall semester dean’s list.

Lake Erie College: Kaitlyn and Kristin Peacock of Hebron were named to the Fall 2018 Dean’s List This distinction is reserved for degree-seeking students who have earned at least nine semester hours of credits at the College during a single academic term and achieved a semester grade point average of 3.50 or higher.

Marietta College: Senior Jaylen Chapin of Hebron, has been named to the Fall 2018 Dean’s High Honors List. He is majoring in Petroleum Engineering and is a graduate of Granville Christian Academy. Any full-time Marietta College student completing at least 15 credit hours with a grade point average of 3.75 or better in a given semester is recognized as a Dean’s High Honors List student for that semester.

Muskingum University: Forrest Ison of Thornville has been named to the Fall 2018 Dean’s List.

Northland College: Chelsea List of Baltimore, a Junior at Northland College, has been named to the dean’s list for outstanding academic performance during the fall 2018 term. To qualify for the dean’s list, full-time students must have a grade point average of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale with no grade less than a “C.” Northland College is a private liberal arts college located in northern Wisconsin.

Ohio Dominican University: Emily Burke of Millersport, Hope Cardamone of Baltimore, Hannah Luft of Thornville and Kelly Mix of Baltimore, have been named to the Fall Semester 2018 Dean’s List. In order to make the Dean’s List, full-time undergraduate students must have achieved a 3.5 GPA or better after taking a minimum of 12 credit hours.

The Ohio State University at Newark: The following lake area students have been named to the Autumn Semester 2018 Dean’s List. To qualify, students must be enrolled at least 12 credit hours and achieve a 3.5 GPA.

Baltimore: Spencer Burns, Clint Byers, Andrew Hawthorn, Jacob Keirns, Claudia Manter and Brittany Schmauch

Buckeye Lake: Brittney Dodrill

Glenford: Jayden Geary, Michael Graham, Lathen Powell and Hannah Tussing

Hebron: Lauren Bowman, Savannah Cloud, Christian Dutiel, Morgan Gregg, Clarissa Hutchinson, Joseph Looney, and Lauren Samsal

Millersport: Alec Harrison and Cassondra Schilling

Pleasantville: Zacary Colopy, Natalie Soliday and Melissa Sommers

Somerset: Haley Bond, Shelby Hoffman, Spencer Snider, Amanda Sturgeon and Alexis White

Thornville: Sara Cooper, Nicole Friel, Emily Gunn and Trinity Porter

Thurston: Kailey Bolinger

Ohio Wesleyan University: The following lake area students have been named to the 2018 fall semester Dean’s List. To qualify for OWU Dean’s List recognition, students must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale in all applicable classes. Tyler Brehm of Baltimore, Melanie Clum of Thornville, and Caitlyn Smith of Baltimore.

Ohio Wesleyan University: Melanie Clum, of Thornville, is among 16 students at Ohio Wesleyan University selected as 2018-2019 Education Fellows. She is seeking teaching certification in Early Childhood Education. The four-year fellowships are awarded each fall by Ohio Wesleyan’s Department of Education to first-year students with a high potential for success at the university and a stated interest in teaching at the pre-school, elementary, middle or high school level. The fellows also are selected in recognition of having demonstrated both leadership in high school and a passion for making the world better by educating its future citizens.

The benefits of being named an Education Fellow include receiving an OWU scholarship, mentoring from both upper-level Education Fellows and professors, and an invitation to participate in forums, field trips, and other career-related events.

The University of Mount Union: Shelby Graham, of Thornville, has been named to the Dean’s List for the fall 2018 semester. To be eligible for the Dean’s List, students must have completed at least 12 credit hours of traditionally graded coursework while achieving a grade point average of 3.550 or better with no letter grade below a B.
