Alva Lew Wallace, age 64 of Thornville, passed away on Thursday, August 12, 2010, at James Cancer Hospital, Columbus.
He was born on June 5, 1946, in New Salem to the late Russell Lee and Lana (Young) Wallace. Alva was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #1516 in Lancaster, a member of Russ George Post #9 of Pleasantville, and the United Steel Workers. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and was an avid Buckeye fan.
Alva is survived by his wife of 30 years, Judith (Coleman) Wallace; children, Jay (Pam) Wallace, David Wallace, Penny (Scott) Arnett, Timothy (Dawn) Wallace, Matt (Kristina) Wallace, and sidekick Bucko; eight grandchildren; siblings, John, Henry, Lettie, and Darlene; mother-in-law, Mable Coleman; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Allen Sims; first wife, Christina (Chesser) Wallace; siblings, Russell, Ann and Rose; and father-in-law, Jesse Coleman.
Funeral service was held August 16, 2010, at Boring-Sheridan Funeral Home, Thornville, with Pastor Gerri Lampton officiating. Burial followed at New Salem Cemetery.
