Alton K. “Dub” Stalter





Services for Alton K. “Dub” Stalter, 86, of Newark, were July 16, 2007, at Bope-Thomas Funeral Home, Somerset, with the Rev. Diana Circelli officiating. Burial was in Mount Perry Cemetery.

Alton died at 6:05 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2007, at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Dub was born Sept. 27, 1920, in Glenford, the son of the late Burton E. and Vera Marie King Stalter.

He was a former member of the United Church of Christ in Thornville. He retired in 1984 from Kaiser Aluminum in Newark after 33 years of service. Dub was an avid fisherman and was known as the mayor of Lakewood Heights Housing Division.

Surviving are three daughters, Judith A. (Ivan) Miller, of Thornville, Teri L. Brown Rositer (Vic) Rositer, of Thornville, and Darcy K. (Bob) Cotterman, of Coconut Creek, Fla.; one son, Stacey A. Stalter, of Newark; four grandchildren, Rhonda R. Hoskinson, Jack L. Brown, Bobbie K. Cotterman and Robert “Buster” Brown; and 10 great-grandchildren, Andy, Addy, Zane, Kolton, Logan, Regan, Ayden, Layni, Wyatt and Peyton.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Doris G. Forgrave Stalter, on Aug. 2, 1989; one sister, Geraldine V. Lepley; and a brother, Wendell W. Stalter.
