A. Venoie Amey, age 95 of Columbus, died January 7, 2013. She was born to Ole and Julia Ramberget Olson of New Rockford, ND, on April 23, 1917. She worked as a RN at Children’s Hospital for 35+ years. She was an active member of the 1st English Lutheran Church in Columbus; a member of Beta Sigma Phi; and volunteered for many service organizations. In later years, she was involved with the Martin Janis Senior Center.
She is survived by her two daughters, Shirley (Edward) Schaffner of Baltimore and Barbara (Bob Suess) Scholtz of Cincinnati; grandchildren, Evan, Grace, Graham, and Peter Schaffner; sisters, Dora (Duane) Birkeland of Sherwood, OR, and Metta McDowell of New Rockford, ND; 24 nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews; and long time friend, Margie Ewing of Pataskala.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Edward Amey; parents; and siblings, Inga, Clifford, Martha, Orin, Raymond, Rolf, and Julia.
A service will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Lancaster, officiated by pastor Mark Raddatz. Burial will follow the service at Maple Grove Cemetery, in Baltimore. Family and friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. on Friday at the Johnson-Smith Funeral Home in Baltimore and one hour prior at the church on Saturday.
