Plan for some family fun at the Sweet Corn Festival

Editor: We encourage all of the readers of The Beacon to set some quality family time aside on Sept. 1 thru Sept. 4 to make some new friends, visit with neighbors and support their own community’s many charitable organizations operating fundraising booths at the Sweet Corn Festival. In this fast-paced, hectic, busy world we live and work in today, it […]

Carlin Addition residents shouldn’t be treated like second class citizens

Editor: Just a few weeks ago in a Beacon story, one of our Buckeye Lake Village officials said it’s the responsibility of the Carlin Addition residents to pave our streets. It’s not our responsibility; we’re not second class citizens. We know better, but I guess some of our officials don’t. You would think that our elected officials would look out […]

Subdivision buyers beware

Editor: If any readers are thinking about buying a home in a subdivision they should think carefully about it. You may purchase the home and the lot it occupies, but your freedom as a homeowner can end there. Once you purchase your home from the developer or contractor, they are typically done with you. Actually Tom Lawson nominated Ours for the honor. Concerning a story about possible cat licensing in Buckeye Lake, Bonnie Mansfield told The Beacon, “I’m totally against cat license […]
