Millersport was one of more than 2,000 communities that took part in Run for Boston 4/17. Local organizer Dina Reasoner said the response to the Boston Marathon tragedy was first organized in Texas and quickly went viral on Facebook. The goal was to bring people together in solidarity to show support for the people of Boston and the runners and spectators of the Boston Marathon. It was explained to the media as, “This is what runners do when life gets tough--we lace up our shoes and go run. This is the best way we know how to show Boston our support right now and begin the healing process for all of us.” More than 100 walkers and runners showed up April 17 at Millersport’s track. The group picture was posted on Facebook that evening. Beacon photos by Charles Prince. 20p1.jpg
