The Grim Reaper, sitting on top of the pickup truck in both photos, cast a somber tone over Liberty Union High School’s mock crash on Friday morning, April 26. The school’s Teen Institute with Recovery Center prevention specialist Erin Ramsey’s guidance organized the school’s first mock crash in four years. It was specifically scheduled on the eve of the school’s prom held at Pickerington’s Hickory Lakes. The Basil Joint Fire District, Thurston Walnut Township Fire Department, Baltimore Police Department, Ohio State Highway Patrol and Air Evac Lifeteam made it all seem very real. One student was ‘arrested’ for OVI and led away in handcuffs. Barber’s Towing of Thurston provided the vehicles and towing services. Teen Institute students put on a mock funeral for one of the ‘victims’ Friday afternoon. Beacon photos by Charles Prince.
