It was a full house Wednesday morning at the Buckeye Lake State Park dredge office for the pre-bid meeting for the long delayed South Fork of the Licking River Channel Improvement project. The project, which will return conditions in the Ohio 79/Ohio 360 area to those existing prior to the construction of the Seller’s Point spillway, consists of nearly 3.3 miles of channel widening and drainage improvements. Channel widening begins at the Seller’s Point Spillway Outlet and extends north to the Ohio 79 bridge north of I-70. More than 20 contractors have purchased plans for the estimated $4.5 million project. Bids will be opened Thursday, August 16. ODNR project manager Jacob Preston, P.E., standing above, expects work to start in late October. The project completion date is November 15, 2013. Beacon photo by Charles Prince.
