Kenny Munday of Kenny’s Collision in Millersport thanks Millersport Police Chief John Shirk’s for his persistent efforts over two months this summer that finally lead to the recovery of Munday’s tow truck. Shirk was in charge of the auto theft unit when he retired from the Columbus Division of Police. He used his experience and contacts on a search that went through five counties. His efforts eventually lead him to a wooded area off Millersport Road just north of Coon Path Road where he found the wrecker wedged between two trees. It appeared the truck had been driven into the brush and woods until the two trees finally stopped it. It was not visible from the road. After repairing the steering column and replacing the stolen battery, the truck is back in service. This theft is part of a larger investigation that could lead to multi-count charges.
