Buurma Farms of Willard, Ohio, gave some Hebron Kroger shoppers free freshly picked sweet corn Saturday. It was part of the store’s “Locally Grown” celebration. Family-owned Buurma dates back to 1896, farming about 800 acres in Ohio including 350 acres of sweet corn. Buurma also grows radishes, beets, lettuces, parsleys, southern greens, peppers and green onions. The celebration included Ohio Proud producers Bob Evans Farms, Park Farms, Velvet Ice Cream and local Devine Farms. Beacon photo by Charles Prince.
