Sweet Corn Festival race Aug. 30

MILLERSPORT – It’s the 25th anniversary of the Sweet Corn Festival 5K run/walk on Saturday, Aug. 30. Fifteen years ago, the race was named the Ken Keener Classic in recognition of its founder and 25-year and counting race director.

Race day registration begins at 7:15 a.m. on the Sweet Corn Festival grounds at Gate 3 just off Chautauqua Drive. The race starts at 9 a.m.

Advance registration is $18; race day registration is $25. Entry forms are available on-line at www.sweetcornfest.com or from Ken Keener at 740-246-6101. Proceeds benefit the Millersport High School/Middle School cross country and track teams.

Trophies will be awarded to the top three finishers, both male and female. Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers both male and female in the following age groups: 1-1, 12-13, 14-15, 16-17, 18-19, 20- 24, 25- 29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 44-59, 60-64, 65-69 and 70+. The top male and female Masters runner will also receive a trophy.

All runners will receive free parking (a $10 value) on the festival grounds. Admission to the festival is free. The festival runs from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday, August 30. The first 415 registrants receive a free t-shirt.
