Hebron Mayor Clifford Mason, dark blue shirt, takes photos with his tablet of the often overgrown drainage ditch running south of US 40 behind the Village Square apartments on Lakewood Drive. Three teams of village officials including council members Jim Friend, Tom Marietta and Scott Walters and residents walked ditch lines last Saturday morning as part of the effort to address the increasing frequency of flooding in some areas of the village this year. As expected, none of the teams found a log jam, beaver dam or major obstruction to account for water backing up in yards, basements and homes. Beacon photos by Charles Prince.
