Sweet Corn Festival thanks Millersport Fire Department for 68 great years

Editor:

We are only a few weeks away from the 68th Annual Sweet Corn Festival. Every year the Millersport Lions Club welcomes several new civic, fraternal, or charitable organizations and their volunteers to our large family of community groups that operate the food and game concessions to Historic Lions Park every Wednesday through Saturday before Labor Day. A tradition since 1946.

This year will be different with the loss of the adult game booth operated by the volunteers of the Millersport Fire Department which have had a booth since the very first festival when it was held on the streets of Millersport. While we are sadden by this loss, we welcome their renewed commitment and full focus on providing the best fire prevention and first aid coverage patrons can expect at a major event.

Thanks to the vision of Fire Chief Bob Price and Asst. Chief Rob Robertson, a dedicated fire crew and a medic team will be staffing a first aid center next to the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office within the Festival Office Building. By combining all safety and security services to a central location it will improve communications between festival officials, law enforcement officers, firefighters and medics and deliver a much better service to everyone attending the Sweet Corn Festival.

To the men and women of the Millersport Fire Department, we say thanks for 68 wonderful years!

Ron Keller, General Chairman
Sweet Corn Festival, Inc.
