New commander for Lancaster Post

COLUMBUS – Sgt. Shad E. Caplinger was promoted to the rank of lieutenant this week by Colonel Paul A. Pride, Patrol superintendent. Lt. Caplinger will transfer from the Circleville Post to serve as commander of the Lancaster Post.

Lt. Caplinger began his Patrol career in June 1999. He earned his commission in December of that year and was assigned to the Circleville Post. In 2007, he was promoted to the rank of sergeant and transferred to the Delaware Post to serve as an assistant post commander. In 2008, he returned to the Circleville Post. Lt. Caplinger earned the Ace Award for excellence in auto larceny enforcement in 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006. He earned a Certificate of Recognition every year from 2000 through 2007, and in 2009 and 2012. He was selected as Post, District and State Trooper of the Year in 2004 and he earned the Criminal Patrol Award in 2010 and 2013.
