Dawes Arboretum - Ohio 13, three miles north of I-70.

Spring in the Swamp- Friday, May 2, 7:30 p.m., meet at the Visitors Center. Curious about what critters lurk in the swamp? Join us for this fascinating presentation on May 2, which highlights our three resident salamander species, as well as other animals that call our Bald Cypress Swamp home. Take advantage of this rare opportunity to visit The Arboretum at night! Begin with an indoor presentation, followed by a short walk to the swamp where and search for salamander egg masses, spermataphores, larvae and other aquatic wildlife. Meet at the Visitors Center and make sure to dress for walking outdoors. $5/free for members.

Poppy Day - Millersport. American Legion Auxiliary Unit 637 members will be giving out Poppies starting at 9 a.m. on the street and at area businesses on Saturday, May 3.

Ohio State Rabbit Breeders Show & Sale - Ohio Expo Center. See more than 12,000 rabbits of 45 different breeds May 3- 4, making this the largest state rabbit show in the country. Buckeye Alpaca Show - Ohio Expo Center. Bring the entire family to see more than 1,000 unique, beautiful alpaca May 3-4. Hours: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. FREE! For more information visit /www.buckeyealpacashow.com/ Yoga Classes - Buckeye Lake Library. The Buckeye Lake Library is hosting free yoga classes for any skill level. Classes will be instructed by Lenise Alexandra. The next class is set for 9 - 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 3. Classes are free and open to the public. No registration is required to attend.

Story Time Birthday Party - Buckeye Lake Library. Help us celebrate 100 years of story time in Licking County from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 3. Join us for a birthday themed story time, board games, crafts, and of course birthday cupcakes while supplies last. Fun for the whole family. FREE with no registration is needed.

FUNraiser - Harbor Hills. Come out from 7:00 - 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, at the Harbor Hills Club House. Silent auction with over 100 donated items plus a live auction. Enjoy games including the 9 Hole Alternate Ball Putting Contest and more. Free hors d’oeuvres and desserts.

Explore the Outdoors- Infirmary Mound Park, Granville. Turn off those screens and tune into nature from 1 - 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 4! At Explore the Outdoors, all ages can enjoy hands-on activities including fishing, paddling, hiking, live animals, lawn games and a geocache course courtesy of CycLicking! The Outdoor Source will have gear and kayaks to demo. Licking County Recycling, Licking County Soil & Water Conservation District, Downtown Cycles, Columbus Flyers Disc Golf Club and the Ohio Horseman’s Council Licking County Chapter will have bikes, discs, and trailers on display! Research Land Records - Newark. The Licking County Genealogical Society is taking a road trip to the Licking County Administration Building, 20 South 2nd Street, at 6 p.m. on Monday, May 5. Licking County Recorder Bryan Long and his staff will present the program. Doors will be locked at 6:15 p.m. and there will be NO ADMITTANCE after this time, so don’t be late. FREE, but attendees are asked to bring a cash donation for the Food Bank.

Pet Appreciation Month - Buckeye Lake Library. It’s our first ever pet appreciation month during the month of May. Stop by the Buckeye Lake Library and drop off a picture of your pet to be posted in our library. Attend a Pet Adoption Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, sponsored by the Licking County Humane Society. Attend a Community Educational Seminar for Pet Wellness from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, hosted by PetPlex Animal Hospital. You can also drop off much needed items for the Licking County Humane Society at our branch all month long.

Breakfast with the Birds - Kraner Nature Center, Newark. Once a month, we will be having breakfast with the birds! Join us from 7 - 9 a.m. on Thursday, May 8, at the Kraner Nature Center to view wildlife through the window, enjoy some coffee and pastries, and meet some new friends. Don’t know much about birds? No problem! Come learn in a relaxed group setting.

Library Cruise-In - Newark. Licking County Library is hosting a free car show from 6 - 9 p.m. on Friday, May 9, 2014, at the Newark Library, 101 West Main St, Newark. Show off your car, eat some good food, hear the beats of a DJ, and possibly win some cool prizes! The first 50 vehicles registered will receive a dash plaque just for coming. There will also be four more winners to be given special awards: DJ’s choice, Bookmobile choice, Director Choice, and the Mayor’s Choice. The Cruise-In will be held in the front parking lot of the Main library, with vendors and show cars parking on Fifth St.

Book Sale & Equipment Swap - Granville. Be sure to stop by the library walkway and village hall from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 10, for deals on discarded books, library furniture, and gently used sports equipment. All proceeds benefit the Friends of the Library and Granville Recreation District Scholarship Fund. Scholoarship Fund.

Granville Farmers Market - Granville. Spring really is here! The outdoor market returns Saturday, May 10, from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Saturdays on North Main Street between Broadway and College streets. All kinds of good things to eat and drink.

Art Auction & Wine Tasting - Buckeye Lake Winery. Join the Lakewood Education Foundation for its Third Annual Art Gala and Auction at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, at the Buckeye Lake Winery. The featured auction piece is from Lakewood graduate and world renowned watercolor artist, Thomas W. Schaller. Enjoy heavy hors d’oeuvres, cash bar and wine tasting. Little Laker Baseball Fundraiser - Millersport. Help us build a new baseball diamond at Veterans’ Memorial Park from 2:00 - 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, at the Millersport Lions Club. Dark Star Jubilee - Thornville, It’s another week closer to the The Dark Star Jubilee May 23 through 25 at Legend Valley.
