Museum sets volunteer training
BUCKEYE LAKE Training classes for new and seasoned Cranberry Bog guides is set for 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, at the museum. The training for the The Queen of the Lake crew is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 24. Each class will last about one hour.
Bog guides and Queen crew are needed for the 2014 season. You can volunteer one day a week, one day a month or as often as you like. There are morning tours, afternoon tours, and evening tours. Public cruises depart at 2 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
The 40-passenger Queen gives public and private tours May through September. Since being launched in 2008, 25,000 visitors have enjoyed the Buckeye Lake and Cranberry Bog tours. The bog will be open for public tours from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday June 21.
