Shirley K. Swank
A memorial service celebrating the life of Shirley K. Swank, age 90, of Newark, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2014, at First Church, 88 North Fifth Street, Newark, with Pastor Seth Oiler officiating. Inurnment will follow at Newark Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Swank passed away March 2, 2014, at Edgewood Manor of Westerville. She was born June 7, 1923, in Ft. Wayne, IN, to the late Wilbur S. and Bessie E. (Scott) Jackson.
Mrs. Swank was a member of First United Methodist Church and active in the church choir. She was past-president of the Newark Music and Study Club, which is affiliated with the Ohio and National Federation of Music Clubs; a member of Damenchor, Monday Talks, PEO and a lifetime member of the Order of Eastern Star #305.
She is survived by her daughter, Leona (Daniel) Fisher of Columbus; son, Lawrence (Cynthia) Swank of Baltimore; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and a brother, Homer Jackson of Huntsville, Alabama.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, E. Robert Swank, April 17, 2005; one brother, Royal Jackson; and one sister, Helen Lloyd.
Friends may call from 9:30 - 11 a.m. prior to the service at the church.
