Linda and Kenny Hettinger of Baltimore celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last month at the home of Linda’s sister and brotherin law. They arrived expecting to join a birthday party, but were surprised to see so many family members and friends there to celebrate their love-filled union. Family members came from as far away as Mississippi and Georgia. They were married on Dec. 8, 1963, in a minister’s home in Gibsonville, OH. The newlyweds were caught in a snow storm on their way back to Lancaster. As the roads became impassable, they discovered they had a flat tire. The headlights stopped working as they kept the car running for heat while fixing the tire. When they finally got home many hours later, they decided that anything that might be thrown at them could only be an improvement over their first day and night as a husband and wife. Courtesy photo.
