Lots to be thankful for in Millersport
The Thanksgiving holiday is over and some pretty neat events occurred in Millersport. First, the Illumination Choir presented a Christmas Madrigal on Friday, Nov. 23 and Saturday Nov. 24. The 30-member choir had representatives from all of the high school sports teams and top scholars. The meal was wonderful and the outstanding performance sold out to 80 people both nights.
Second, the all-county choir performance was held in the district auditorium on Monday, Nov. 25. The best of the best from all of the Fairfield County schools had the opportunity to sing before a packed audience. Steve Mohler is the force behind these two significant events.
Third, Jim and Karen McKittrick provided 36 holiday turkey dinners for people in the community that did not have somewhere to go to on Thursday. They do this at their own expense and provide a cheerful atmosphere for their guests.
Finally, the United Methodist Church’s Community food pantry under the coordination of Les Smith provided 70 meals to families for the Thanksgiving Holiday. Many locals baked cupcakes and other deserts to help in this worthwhile endeavor.
It never ceases to amaze me when this community I call the best kept secret in Central Ohio rises to the occasion and does good things. It doesn’t take much but the dividends pay off in a big way. Debbi and I choose to live here and this why I call it home and a great place to live and raise children.
