Bowling Green candidate forum set
The rapidly approaching election cycle is upon us, so now is a good time for everyone to take a deep breath and try to let emotions cool before considering the candidate of their choice.
In an effort to help Bowling Green Township voters become better informed and to voice their uncensored, civil opinion, please visit us at the Bowling Green Township Civility Project Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/pages/ Bowling-Green-Township-Civility-Project/ 387724211353706.
The recent vitriol-like tone of some residents and elected officials’ letters to the Beacon makes it clear that we have a great need for a place where we can voice our opinions in a calm and reasoned manner. Selecting a candidate who can help move our community forward really is no place for such terribly sarcastic, insultive and accusatory letters and statements toward one another. This vicious cycle is not only terribly uncivil but feels threatening to many of our residents. What harm is there is just letting up on the bitterness and oneupmenship? Voice your opinion, state your reasoning, counter another’s opinion in a civil manner if you disagree, but stop the vicious personal attacks. NOTE: Insults, accusations and other negative bloviating are not welcome.
All respectful, civil, non-threatening and reasonable opinions and comments are most assuredly welcome. This is the place and this is the time to read what’s going on and we may get a little better feel for what’s going on in our community.
And finally, The Friends of Bowling Green Township is sponsoring a “Meet the Candidates” night for all candidates running for Bowling Green Township at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 09, at the Bowling Green Township Community building in Brownsville. Please plan on coming where you will be able to hear all candidates discuss their thoughts and reason for representing the residents of Bowling Green Township.
