Ronald W. Writesel

Ronald W. Writesel, 65, of Utica, passed away September 15, 2013, at his home.

He was born on May 7, 1948, in Columbus to the late Nathan A. Writesel and JoAnn (Healey) Writesel, who survives.

Ron proudly served his country in the US Navy, retiring after 22 years of service. He was a member of the Father Huber Council Knights of Columbus, Buckeye Lake VFW Post #1388 and the Fleet Reserve. He was an avid collector of many things including baseball cards, model cars, and old records. Ron was a lover of music, but most of all was a family man who enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids.

In addition to his mother, JoAnn, he is survived by his wife, Elta McKinley, whom he married on April 25, 1970; four children, Veronica, Ronald (Brandee), Nathan and Chris (Dawn) Writesel; five grandchildren, Christian, Zander, Kaiden, Jordis and Ayla; three brothers and one sister, Nathan, Steve (Marsha), Pat (Shelly) Writesel, and Theresa (Writesel) England; his father and motherin law, Richard “Dick” and June McKinley; Carolyn and Ed Vantilburg; David Writesel; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Miles Writesel.

A funeral service, celebrating Ron’s life, will be held at 12:00 p.m., on Saturday, September 21, 2013, in the chapel of the Kirkersville home of Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service,285 E. Main St. with Chaplain Jack Nix officiating. Burial with full military graveside rites will follow in Kirkersville Cemetery. Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Friday, September 20, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Saturday.
