John Joseph Zaleusky
John Joseph Zaleusky, 69, of Granville, passed away July 25, 2013, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 16, 1943, in Columbus, the son of the late Anthony Zaleusky and Hilda Irene (Bushbaum) Zaleusky of Reynoldsburg.
John, who was affectionately known by his friends as “Zeke” or “Polack,” served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam era from 1963-1967. He was a member of the first graduating class from Bishop Hartley High Schoool in 1961. He was employed by Harrop
Industries as a design engineer for over 20 years and by Jeffrey Manufacturing/Jeffrey Mining Machinery Company in Columbus and Spartanburg SC.
Zeke loved OSU football and was a NASCAR enthusiast. He was a Roman Catholic by faith.
He is survived by his loving family: his wife, Carolyn (Wickliff) Zaleusky; daughter, Beverly Ann (David) Oddi of Galloway; granddaughter, Megan Oddi; stepchildren, Linda (Daniel) Starsia of Columbus, Daniel (Celina) Oswald of Senecaville, and Dwayne (Elizabeth) Oswald of Granville; step-grandchildren, Michael, Jennifer, Morgan, Abby, Natalie and William Oswald; sisters, Donna (James) Frey of Columbus and Rose Mary (Ralph) Billiter of Carroll; a niece; nephews and many friends.
A funeral service celebrating his life was held July 29, 2013, at the Kirkersville home of Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service, with Rev Fr. Leo Connolly as celebrant. Burial with full military honors followed at Kirkersville Cemetery.
The family prefers that memorials be directed to the American Cancer Society in his memory.
