Road work to affect more area roads

JACKSONTOWN - The Ohio Department of Transportation District 5 has announced that two area projects will begin next Monday, July 29.

Preparation work will begin for a roadway stabilization project on Ohio 13 about three miles south of Newark in Licking County. Construction includes the widening of Ohio 13 for the addition of a retaining wall to stabilize the roadway.

Beginning Monday, August 5 this work will close Ohio 13 for 45 days between Hopewell Drive and Dorsey Mill Road for construction.

Motorists will be detoured via U.S. 40 to Ohio 79 to Ohio 16 back to Ohio 13.

Shelly & Sands is the contractor for this $487,861 project and the completion date is November 31, 2013.

Works also begins Monday in Fairfield County to resurface almost 16 miles of State Route 158 from Lancaster to U.S. 40 in Licking County.

Two-way traffic will be maintained with flaggers with a 10’ width restriction.

The Shelly Company is ODOT’s contractor for this $3.8 million project and the completion date is October 31, 2013.

Last week, the Interstate 70 eastbound on-ramp from Ohio 158 was closed for 19 days, weather permitting.

Ohio 158 northbound traffic will be detoured via Ohio 204 to Ohio 37 to I-70. Ohio 158 southbound traffic will be detoured via US 40 to Ohio 37 to I-70.

This work is part of the Ohio 158 bridge replacement project over I-70. Work for this project began in May of 2012 and the completion date is November 15, 2013.

ODOT’s contractor for this $8 million project is Complete General Construction Co. from Columbus
