‘A great place to live and raise children’
Three events over the last two weeks reinforce my belief that cream always rises to the top and good people show their true colors. The first events were BLASST and the days leading up to it. Groups of volunteers solicited donations in the Village of Buckeye Lake and Millersport, T-shirts and luminaries were sold and the response was generous. All of the police and fire departments in the area worked together to make it a safe environment for all of us. In spite of Mother Nature, the firework display could not be dampened.
The second event was the Millersport Shootout baseball tournament sponsored by the U-13 team that plays on our Veterans Park baseball field. The host team used the event to showcase their talent and raised $320 for the Veteran’s Memorial that was damaged by a recent windstorm. The money is greatly appreciated and will be used toward the deductible.
The last event was the windstorm that occurred on Wednesday, July 10. Within minutes of the high winds leaving the lake area, village, township and ODNR personnel and caring neighbors began the cleanup. People with chainsaws helped make streets passable and others with brooms and rakes cleared their small areas. This happened all over the Buckeye Lake area. There are too many people to name and thank individually so this will have to do for now. This work ethic is a testament to the type of people we are and the reason we rise above adversity.
And, as usual, this is a great place to live and raise children.
