Thanks from VFW Fishing Rodeo

Our Children’s Fishing Rodeo was a huge success. Twenty-six kids fished and about twice that many adults came to watch. It was truly a wonderful morning for all involved. We gave away almost $600 worth of prizes. We served hot dogs, juice boxes, and cookies.

I want to personally thank Billie, from Murphy’s Lawn Service, for cleaning up the area we fished on; Steve and Connie Schilling for letting us fish off their property; Z’s Bait Shop, in Buckeye Lake for donating all our bait; Reynoldsburg Walmart for donating a $50 gift card to buy prizes; and Pam Barr from Sammy J’s for the great cookies. VFW Post 1388 donated $250 to help us buy prizes.

The Ladies and Men’s Auxiliaries to VFW 1388 work well together and we created a Fourth Fishing Rodeo for the children of our community. A special thanks to Julie Keys, Mindi Faulkner, and Courtney Kidwell for helping measure and record the fish that were caught. The Men’s Auxiliary planners, helpers, and fish measurers were Don Frankhauser, Tom Eckstein, Dan Johnson, and Rick Vanoster. Others that helped were Don Dollison and Mike Balser. All contributed to make this another special event for The Ladies Auxiliary and Men’s Auxiliary.

We are grateful to the parents who came and patiently baited hooks and removed fish. I believe they had as much fun as the children. We plan on doing this again next year so watch for our announcement in this paper.

God Bless Our Veterans and God Bless America.

Lauralyn V. Palmer, Pres. Ladies
Auxiliary to VFW Post 1388 Buckeye
