Samuel R. Tankersley
Samuel R. Tankersley, 76, of Thornville, died April 26, 2013, at the Pickering House.
He was born to the late Howard “Humpy” and Edith (Miller) Tankersley, on April 28, 1936, in Imboden, VA. He was a jack of many trades: auto mechanic, truck driver, school bus driver and coal miner. Sam loved old cars, old westerns, and playing his “scratchies”. Sam is survived by five children, Veronica Roe of Lancaster; Samuel Jr. (Jan), of Montello, WI; Michael (Carolyn) of Newark; Tracy (Melissa), of Bremen; and Miranda (Kyle) Miller, of Thornville; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; his brother, Ralph (Pat) of Rineyville, KY; and his sister, Pauline (Sam) Davis of Fairmount, IN. In addition to his parents, Sam is preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Joyce (Miller); and his brothers Charles “Cobb” and Larry Tankersley. The family expresses special appreciation to FairHope Hospice of Lancaster for their kind and loving care.
Funeral service was April 28, 2013, at The Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls, OH.
