“Anything Goes” this weekend
HEBRON – Lakewood Drama presents hijinks on the high seas with a production of the musical “Anything Goes,” April 12 and 13, 7:30 p.m.; April 14, 3 p.m.; and a free senior citizen matinee at 8:30 a.m. April 15. All tickets are $7.
“Our show features a cast, crew and pit orchestra of close to 100,” said Lakewood Middle School music teacher and high school theater director Martha Fickle. “The entire cast tap dances for the ‘Anything Goes’ number.”
According to broadwaymusicalhome.com, aboard the S.S. American are Billy Crocker, a stowaway in love with heiress Hope Harcourt, who in turn is engaged to Lord Evelyn Oakleigh, nightclub singer and former evangelist Reno Sweeney, and Public Enemy #13, Moonface Martin, who is posing as a minister. A series of comical mistaken identities ensues as the passengers and crew sing and dance their way across the Atlantic.
