Granville Winter Farmers Market - Granville. The Granville Farmers Market, a favorite summer event, continues again this year every Saturday (except Dec. 29) with the Winter Farmers Market! Every Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to noon, the Winter Farmers Market takes place at the Granville Elementary School. Enter from the Sunrise Street entrance and park in the school parking lot.
Half Price Admission - Columbus Zoo. Don’t worry about the cold. Owls of February - William C. Kraner Nature Center, Newark. Join Ohio Nature Education’s Executive Director Manon Van- Schoyck at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23, as we explore the fascinating world of our nighttime raptors! We’ll start indoors with some facts about anatomy and identification. Then we’ll head outdoors to visit some of our education animals in their enclosures before we venture forth for a brief hike to try to lure out some wild owls by using recorded calls. $5 per person.
Comedian Ahmed Ahmed - Denison University, Granville. Comedian and actor Ahmed Ahmed takes the stage at 9 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23, at the Roost on the third floor of Slayter Hall (200 Ridge Road). The comedian is known for his stand-up routines and his appearances on Comedy Central, the Comedy Store and the Comedy Cellar. The event, sponsored by the Middle Eastern Cultural Organization, is free and open to the public.
Central Ohio Home and Garden Show - Ohio Expo Center, Columbus. The annual Central Ohio Home & Garden Show returns Feb. 23 - March 3, featuring seminars, vendors and fantastic ideas for all aspects of home improvement and gardening, ranging from decks to spas to landscaping. International Food and Culture Festival - Denison Univesity, Granville. The 2013 International Food and Culture Festival begins at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 24, in the Curtis Dining Hall and Veggie Room (100 Smith Lane). Members of the public are invited to take part at a cost of $6.20. This year’s menu will feature foods from at least 25 different countries across six continents.
Teen Video Game Night - Buckeye Lake. Teens in grades 6-12 are invited to the Buckeye Lake Library for a fun-filled evening playing video games on the XBox 360 from 5:00 - 6:30 p.m on the last Tuesday of each month (Feb. 26). FREE!
Former death row inmate speaks - Denison University, Granville. Former Ohio death row inmate Dale Johnston will speak about his exoneration at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 27, in the board room of Denison University’s Barney-Davis building (200 West Loop). This event is free and open to the public.
