Writer provides ‘rest of the story’

Editor:

It is time for the truth to be known, especially for those who volunteered, donated, or participated. It is true that a substantial amount of money was raised by Tips for Tots. Through the help of many, it was one of the most popular and successful charities in the area, and it helped numerous families and children. Although a small portion was unfortunately mishandled, it was all repaid in full and appropriately distributed to the schools for children in need. It would be ludicrous for people to think that nothing was presented to the schools.

All of the articles on the subject were totally one-sided, and mostly inaccurate. The Letter to the Editor by Mr. Frank Correl, however, was nothing more than fabrications and lies. How he came up with his numbers is beyond apprehension. He somehow felt obliged to bring my name into the picture, which is wrong, and that amounts to libel. He gave some nice “donations” to the annual auctions, when, in fact, those were put in on consignment, and he was paid for them after the auctions.

However, I do not intend to get into a debating contest, so I will close by saying that hopefully this will be my one and only letter. Most of you have already formed an opinion, but I hope this letter will clear up some lingering misunderstandings.
