Holiday Greenery Workshops - Saturday, Dec. 1, (register by November 26) 9 - 11 a.m. OR Saturday, Dec. 15 (register by December 10) 2 - 4 p.m. Create a festive arrangement of greens taken from The Dawes Arboretum grounds to decorate a hearth or table. Let the sight and smell of pine boughs, holly branches, cedar berries and other greens put you in the mood for the holidays. The Arboretum provides all of the materials, including decorations and candles, to enliven your display. Visitors Center - $30/$20 members; registration required (no vouchers).
Holiday Decorations for Wildlife - Saturday, Dec. 1, 1 - 4 p.m. OR Saturday, Dec. 15, 9 a.m. - Noon. Join this fun, entertaining workshop to build a wreath or swag for wildlife! Once the basics are learned, embellish a work of art with tasty, edible decorations just for wildlife! These holiday decorations for wildlife must be set outdoors on a front door, barn door or fence where wildlife can take advantage of it. All materials are provided-greens, unsalted popcorn and peanuts, cranberries for stringing, pine cones to be stuffed with peanut butter and birdseed, fruit slices and more! Visitors Center - $30/$20 members, reservations required.
Holiday Luminary Tour - Friday, Dec. 7, 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. Enjoy 2,000 candle luminaries along the Auto Tour. Stop by the Visitors Center for a cup of hot cocoa, a holiday treat and some activities for the whole family. Purchase a beautiful poinsettia to help support The Arboretum. Please bring a non-perishable food or monetary donation for the Food Pantry Newtwork of Licking County. Free!

Wildlights - Columbus Zoo. We have decked the halls, trees, bushes, everything but the animals with eco-friendly LED lights to bring you the brightest Wildlights display ever! Central Ohio’s favorite family holiday tradition is celebrating its 24th year and offers more holiday fun than ever before! Wildlights runs from to Jan. 1. Wildlights activities run from 5 - 9 p.m. Sundays through Thursday and from 5 - 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Regular admission rates apply. Columbus Winterfair - Ohio Expo Center, Columbus. The Columbus Winterfair returns Nov. 30 - Dec. 2, with fine arts and crafts. Browse the holiday holiday artists’ market and find unique and beautiful handcrafted items for the home, office or gift giving. Artists from across the nation will be showcasing their traditional and contemporary crafts including ceramics, wood, glass, painting, metals, fiber, jewelry, photography, sculpture and more. Birdfeeder Survey - William C. Kraner Nature Center, Newark. Join Chris and Kay at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1, as we count the different bird species at the nature center feeding station. We’ll show you how we track for Cornell Lab of Ornithology. Free.
Winter is for the Birds! - William C. Kraner Nature Center, Newark. Bring the family out at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 2, and learn how you can help feed the birds in your backyard this winter. Participants will make a couple of simple feeders to take home with them. Ages 6+. Fee of $5 per family. Each family will make one set of feeders to take home with them. Preregistration is required. Steak Dinner - Baltimore. Everyone is invited to a steak dinner from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 7, at Baltimore United Methodist Church. Cost is $9 per adult.
Victorian Christmas Tea - Granville. The Robbins Hunter Museum is celebrating a Civil War Christmas by hosting a Victorian Christmas Tea at noon on Friday, Dec. 7, complete with a tasteful sampling of savories and sweets reminiscent of 19th century holiday gatherings. Dr. Rebecca Dungan, member of the Board of Governors and Chair of the Collection Committee at the museum, will be sharing her extensive research of Christmas the Civil War era. Seating is limited. Craft & Cookie Bazaar - Thornport. AMVETS Post #51 Auxiliary is hosting a craft and cookie bazaar from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, at the post. Everyone is welcome.
Inspirational Author to Speak - Newark. Local author Connie Cameron will speak about her newest book, Stories of Faith and Courage from Prison, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, at the Newark Library, 101 West Main Street. This 365-day devotional includes true stories of how God has worked in the lives of inmates. This moving and inspirational book would make a great gift! Proceeds from sales will benefit the Licking County Jail ministry. Connie Cameron’s other writings include several Chicken Soup for the Soul titles and articles for the Reader’s Digest magazine. Dozens of her published works have been compiled into her first book, God’s Gentle Nudges.
Buckeye Model Train & Railroad Show - Ohio Expo Center. Ohio’s largest combination model train and railroad memorabilia show is coming to town from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, in the Lausche Building. Admission is $6.
Outville Christmas Parade - Outville. The 17th annual Outville Christmas parade begins at 3 p.m. on Saturday, December 8. Parade registration and lineup begins at 1:30 p.m. at the Harrison Township Community Complex located at 6750 Outville Rd. S.W. The parade features motorcycles, antique cars, trucks, tractors, equestrian units, organizations, bands and more! The parade travels north from the Harrison Township Community Complex on Outville Road. Immediately following the parade at the Harrison Township Community Complex, there will be entertainment, an auction, and a visit from Santa himself. Book Signing - Buckeye Lake. Kirkersville resident and author Mary Hickey will be signing copies of Ask Deborah, a Christian humor book from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Dec. 8, at The Flour Shop bakery and cafe on Ohio 79 in Buckeye Lake Village. Several Biblical characters write to an advice columnist, named Deborah after the wise judge of the Old Testament. Her book will be available for $10. It is also available on amazon.com for $14 plus shipping.
Christmas Parade & Chicken Dinner - Millersport. The parade down Lancaster Street starts at 11:30 a.m. with Santa arriving at the fire station at noon. Visit with Santa until 2 p.m. A grilled chicken dinner will be served from noon to 4 p.m. for a donation. Proceeds purchase toys for needy area children.
Caroling -Thornville. Members of the Thornville Nazarene Youth group will be carolling in the Thornville area from 4:00 - 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 9. Call 740-246-5208 to request a visit.
“Avenue Q” - Denison University, Granville. Denison University’s Singer’s Theatre Workshop will present the raucous musical comedy “Avenue Q,” under the direction of Belinda Andrews-Smith, at 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 30, and at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1, in the Burke Recital Hall (240 West College Street). “Avenue Q” is rated for mature audiences only and is free and open to the public. Celtic Christmas Concert - Newark. Licking County Library invites you to celebrate with family and friends by attending a free, Celtic concert by Celts Crossing from 2 - 4 p.m. on Sunday, December 2, on the second floor of the Newark Library, 101 West Main Street. Granville-based Celts Crossing was formed in 2003. The band released its debut CD, Celts Crossing - Etched in Time, in 2004. The band’s members consist of Paul Mumma on guitar, whistle, pipes and vocals; Robin Brown on fiddle and vocals; Scott Rawdon on bass and vocals; Frank O’Brien-Bernini on drums and Liz Donahue-Redrow on guitar and vocals.
