Jon Edwin Ringhiser

Jon Edwin Ringhiser, 71, of Thornville, passed away on September 7, 2012, surrounded by his loving wife and daughters.

Jon was born in Logan on August 13, 1941, to the late Kermit and Mildred (Keister) Ringhiser. He graduated from Logan High School in 1959. He married Janet Nelson in March of 1961, then moved to Lancaster and began the lifelong process of raising four daughters.

Jon worked for Anchor Hocking Plant 2 in Lancaster for many years. He eventually realized his dream of returning to a farm and moved to Thornville. He worked for Owens Corning in Newark and later for Newark City Schools as a bus driver and mechanic.

Jon was raised a Lutheran and most recently attended Calvary Baptist Church in Lancaster. He was a member of the Mingo Masonic Lodge 171 in Logan. He loved to hunt, shoot trap and spend time with family and friends. Jon never met a stranger and found someone he knew everywhere he went. He was a loyal, hard-working and faithful husband, father, and friend.

He is survived by his wife, Janet of 51 years; four daughters, Loraine (Dennis) Carlson of Heath, Suanna Duve of Londonderry, Jill (Mike) Huffman of Gratiot, and Joann (Joe) Kristoff of Chillicothe; sister, Betty Grandy of Uniontown, Ohio; grandchildren, Aaron Carlson, Kayla (Aaron) Kidwell, Christopher Duve, Leah Carlson, Caleb Duve, Taylar Baker, and Brandon Baker; great-grandchild Parker Kidwell; brothers-in-law Dick (Shirley) Nelson, Bill Nelson, and Jim (Linda) Nelson; step-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and loyal dogs Sadie and Harmony.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Peggy Aurand; brother, Paul Ringhiser; and sonin law, Steven Duve.

Funeral services were held on September 11, 2012, at the Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home, Logan. Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery near Logan with Pastor Matthew Nihiser officiating.
