Thanks to loyal Sweet Corn Festival runners

Editor:

Thank you to all who turned out to run the Millersport Sweet Corn Festival 5K this past Saturday despite the bad weather.

I understand that between 7:00 - 10:30 a.m., four inches of rain fell at and around the Millersport area. During the rains, there was lightning as well. The race had to be delayed 20 minutes. Once we got started, all 406 starters completed the race despite even more rain late in the race.

My apologies go out to the runners for the technical difficulties we encountered in getting the results tabulated. During registration, the computer we use for compiling the results malfunctioned to where we could not use it, then the backup timer conked out. Once we got the backup timer working, we missed the first 20 or so times. Again, I apologize for the inconvenience this may have created.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all those who come out each and every year to volunteer to make this event run smoothly. Despite the weather, all volunteers showed up and did an outstanding job. Many of the workers have served at this event since we started 23 years ago.

Results of the places each person received and most of the times are or will be up on the Sweet Corn Festival website. Just go to sweetcornfest.com and they should be there. Hopefully, next year the weather will be more to our liking. Again, thanks to everybody for a successful 5K.

Finally, thanks to the sponsors, door prize/cups donators, and finish line refreshment crew. I really do appreciate their support and those who participate do, as well.
